I fitted the Chinese purchased bonnet lifters that are designed to fit around the bonnet explosive bolts on the later ND. They were easy to fit, but the gas struts appear to be too long when you try and fit them. I wedged the top of one against the hinge, slowly closed the bonnet, forcing the gas strut to close and quickly clipped it on the ball socket. You cannot compress them by hand. You have to fit 2, only having one will not hold the bonnet up on its own.
