I've put this here as I wasn't sure which section to put it in.
So, as my soft top was looking very dirty, particularly with green algae and after searching the net for solutions and some advice from fellow fivers I found, what I think is a good method.
Some pictures to show what it was like ..........
To clean I used Milton sterilising tablets and Baby bath (not Johnson's but a cheaper alternative), as suggested on a forum for Audi TT owners. To re-waterproof I used Fabsil, as suggested by Jonno (thanks for the tip)
To get rid of the green I put about 4 ltr of warm water in a bucket and dropped in 3 Milton tablets and applied the solution to the green areas using a soft scrubbing brush and a toothbrush.
I then scrubbed using the Baby Bath mixed into some warm water.
After hosing off I found some areas that were still showing signs of green agae........
So I applied some more Milton solution and let it dwell a little longer before washing off. That seemed to do the trick.
After cleaning......
And yes I have a hole in the roof but as it's double fabric in this area it doesn't seem to let in any water, yet.
After allowing it to dry off I applied the Fabsil using a clean 2" paint brush as instructed on the tin and rubbed with an old tea towel.
And finally some pictures from this morning after it had been rained on all night.......
We will have to see how long it last. I suspect I will be doing it again early next year. Although I do put a half cover on over winter.
