So........I've recently had a Sony double din head unit fitted to my 2012 NC PRHT 2.0 ltr auto. It has DAB, Android Auto and Bluetooth. Basically, all of the functionality I was looking for in order to 'update' the rather basic standard kit. I also had a rear view camera fitted, linked to said Sony unit along with front and rear parking sensors. All in all I am very pleased with it. The standard speakers are coping well with the new unit and actually sound better than before, though I shall take care not to 'over-blast' them in case they explode!! A DAB aerial was fitted to the front screen with surprisingly good DAB reception (much better than I was expecting it to be...it has yet to 'drop out'). All the work was completed on my drive by a company called 'Road Radio' who have been excellent as well as reasonably priced. Shout out to 'Ron' the fitter who spent six hours without a break undertaking the work. There's a slight problem with the volume level, in that even on it's lowest setting it is still loud-ish. Apparently there's an adjustment on the back of the unit so they are coming back tomorrow to take the unit out again and re-calibrate the volume. Anyone else used this company? What was your experience?
Today I had a delivery from MX-5 Parts. Arrived next day as usual. I have a 'Stebel Nautilus Brio Electropneumatic Horn'. I always feel that the horn is the 'voice of the car' and needs to have a bit of character over the standard one. Next, some Xenon dipped beam light bulbs. I find the standard bulbs are not particularly bright and again, this will hopefully help bring the car slightly more up to date. Lastly, a stubby aerial. The standard one on my 5 was, for some reason, rather tired and pitted so it is now resplendent with a smart stubby one.
On Friday I am due to take her to my local indie for a general check over and I will ask him to fit the horn and the bulbs whilst there. I will post an update on progress!
Happy 5ing!
