I got a "low fob battery" warning from the car last time I drove it, so bought a couple of new CR2025 batteries from Amazon and changed them. AMAZON BATTERIES - £2.69 delivered free with Prime. Not only are they "Baby Secure" they are "Human Secure". Luckily, . . . . They also have stickers on the negative side of the battery, remove before use or wonder why your remote is not working. Despite what you see in the video, it is NOT good practice to touch both sides of the battery at the same time, try holding it just by the edge. From my purchase history, it looks like the batteries lasted just over 15 months - I rotate the keys each time I use the car so they get an "even" wear. A video "how to" in case you need to know . . .

What was the low battery warning Jeff? Do you only get the warning on later MX5's as mine just run out when we was out one day. Luckily Jackie had her key with her. I now carry a spare fob battery in the MX & CX3, just incase.

A yellow key lit up in the right hand side of the dash with "low" underneath.
If your battery does that again, you can still start your car. Open the car with the key, hold the key fob to the start button and press to start. The chip in the key will be read if you hold it to the button.
