How to choose what your iPhone plays when connecting to your carThis has bugged me for years; when I connect my iPhone to my car(s), either Car Play or Bluetooth, the radio will automatically start playing something from iTunes/Music. I usually travel without music playing as I find it distracting, so having connected the phone and started the journey, CarPlay or Bluetooth connects and I've got music playing I didn't want. I use the phone satnav, so I can't simply "mute". Option 1: HeySiri, mute music - sometimes works. I've found a link to a site where you can create an "automation" on your phone that will run automatically when the phone connects to CarPlay or Bluetooth and will "pause" music playing. As you know, recent law changes makes even touching a phone whilst driving a bit of an issue, so this, for me, is a big help. My phone is magnetically attached to the ND glove box when driving, out of sight and out of reach. The link to the article (with pictures) is below. I created CarPlay and Bluetooth Automations in about 10 minutes. CarPlay is easy, Bluetooth is a tiny bit longer as you have to choose the Bluetooth device as well. link

OK, set this up for the MX5 (car play) and the Citroën (Bluetooth) and it worked, played for 1/2 second then muted.
However, if you turn the volume up you can faintly hear white noise. Better than having to faff around stopping the music manually.
