Cheers, Guy

Sorry, I haven't.
Why not try Andrew at Autolink, he's the "go to" Man for that sort of stuff.

Andrew has sold out of NB gear sticks but I found one on E-bay for sensible money. The next trick will be to cut it down and introduce a length of slimmer rod to extend the lever. Anyone got any ideas on how to drill out a snooker ball?

Modern snooker balls are made with cast phenolic resin, a light plastic resin, which gives a lot more control, compared with previous materials used, such as clay and ivory.

That looks great. Thanks for the link Jeff. I'm hoping the balls are a resin or similar. I wonder where I could get an M8 brass insert like those in the link? π€

Awesome. Thank you so much. π
I got a length of 8mm bar in the post today and now I've ordered some 6mm as I'm not sure the 8mm is slender enough. π€

If the bar is too thin you may lose some of the feel of the box.
Many years ago I drove BT Commer vans. Driving position was very much like sitting on a dining chair. Gear lever came from the cab floor and must have been about 30" long. A good thick lever but due to the flex with a vigourous change into 3rd you could bang your knuckles on the dash.

Understood π
Before I commit I'll be sure to try different combos to see where the sweet spot is. It would be nice to find a length of lever that looks elegant but is sturdy enough to retain the feel.

Thanks Ian. I might take you up on that. I've ordered a black snooker ball but if I stuff it up your orange pool ball will come in very handy. π The cunning plan is to cut off the gear stick at the end of the tapered section, drill it out, introduce alength of chrome/polished metal rod, weld it in place, tap the other end, drill out the black ball, insert a threaded insert like what Roadie found and the job's a good 'un.......easy.......right?
Now, what's the simplest way to perform those easy steps? π€

I've got an orange pool ball gear knob if you want it ? I feel there is a story behind this. Seemed like a good idea at the time? Reality not quite what you imagined?
