I did the same thing with my 30th Anniversary.... I had the original painted by a local bodyshop, I removed the badges and painted them black.  |

Yeah, but I rubbed mine down so the plastic is glassy smooth - but I would NOT do that again! Mistake, but once started . . .
They are not that expensive to replace in any event.
